Post office visit & a side of Pad Thai!

Today I went to the Post Office to get some stamps for post-cards! Stamps cost 15 bht.. a whopping 27p! (Hopefully you peeps will get them soon!) It was a very exciting little trip, 20 min walk down Sukhumvit Road, past Nana station and voila... the Thai Royal Mail awaited.

After the excitement of posting the post-cards i treated myself to a street market Pad Thai for 50 bht (92p) it was one of the best I've yet to have! The guy serving me made a special request to the chef, who i think was his mama, 'English Girl... no spicy!!!'

River Taxi to Khao San Road!

Yesterday we took a river boat along the Khlong Saen Saeb River to the Khao San Road! Described in the guide book as 'dirty and dangerous' - it was was more dirty (and smelly!) than dangerous and more interesting than taking a taxi.

The taxi boat arrives and it's all go to get on... then speeds off to the next stop! A few stops down the boat just stops...everyone scrambles of and runs and hops on the next avaliable the boat! It cost 12 baht (22p!) for a 20 min manic cruise.. The boat was crowded and you hang on to whatever or whoever you can, when another boat passes.. watch out for the wave of dirty smelly (OMG.. it is smelly!) water that gushes in the boat!

From Phanfa Leelard Pier it's a 10 min walk, passing the Royal Pavilion Mahajetsadabadin, to the Khao San Road... shopping haven! Super busy with backpacker and anyone looking for cheap beer and a 50 baht (92p) Pad Thai!

Benjakiti Park

Last week I visited Benjakiti Park, a man made lake in the heart on Bangkok! Next time I'll hire a bike to cycle round and be sure to take more pics of the Bougainvillea's.
